Tonight went pretty well!
There wasn't a decision made. The conversation went well.. and everyone was nice and civil with one another. The social worker said that he really seemed to be reasonable about everything.
They started the meeting out and Renee (the social worker).. said "I just want to let you know, if you do choose to not go through with the adoption plan.. Megan has chosen to parent Emma." He responded with that he would be okay with joint custody. Megan pretty much made it clear to him that.. that is not going to happen. She also told him that Emma is exactly where she needs to be. He didn't say anything to that.. but Megan said that she thinks he did get the hint that it's not going to be joint custody in his happy little world that he thinks it's going to be.
He did bring two concerns to the table. He had questions about the adoption.. and was under the impression that all adoption are closed.. (even though he was told prior to birth that it was not).. and he wanted to make sure that he could have contact with her. (pictures, etc).. He was also concerned that him terminating his rights to Emma would jeopardize him trying to get custody of his other children. He was assured that it wouldn't interfere with any of that.
Well anyways.. he said that he needed to think it over.. so basically talk to his other half and see where to go now. Both Megan & Renee said it went very well.. but as Megan said... I just hope that his wife doesn't try to influence his decision and he makes this one on his own.
We should know something tomorrow. Now the prayers for him and his wife do begin.. that they will find it in their hearts.. to do what is best for Emma.. and nothing less.
Thank you for all of your support and prayers,
Love you girls!
Melissa
